Review of The Freshman (1990) by Heather B — 05 Aug 2006
Watched The Freshman today with my boyfriend. .
.
It was a fairly standard comedy, and quite obviously written by someone in film school being very bored by watching The Godfather over and over again (I know the feeling). It was tolerable however, and ultimately made some sense (it doesn't for a long time). Good performances from Matthew Broderick and Marlon Brando (obviously). .
.
Something that annoyed me: They shot the mall sequence at the Woodbine. The Woodbine is a mall next to the college I went to Film & Television for. They would never, NEVER, let anything shoot there. EVER. How did these people get in? Are THEY the ones that ruined it for us? ARGH!!!!!.

Also, the dormmate was annoying and really unnecessary to the story. .
.
The Opinion: Standard. .
