Review of The Freshman (1990) by B H — 09 Jun 2010
The film The Freshmen is kind of like a mockumentry of the God Father. It is about a freshman that is going into college that wants to go into the film business. He actually watches the movie the God Father in one of his college courses. Then to help make some money he then takes a suspicious job with the same man that plays Veto Corleone in the God Father parts I, II, and III.
I personally did not like The Freshmen that much. It was the story line and the script that really did me in. It did not entertain me the way really well done movies do. The cameras and the lighting were at odd places. Maybe if they used a different style to shoot the movie in the film may have been more successful. It is the type of movie that you watch when you are not really watching the movie and just have it as back round entertainment when one have company over.
However, even though I did not enjoy the film as a whole, I did find little bits and pieces of the film funny. But it is the obvious and up front type of funny which actually worked out well in this film because it really was the only parts people really pay attention to.
