Review of The French Connection (1971) by Dan D — 26 Jul 2010
Multiple Oscar winner. Friedkin places the viewer right on the dirty, cold streets of New York. No other crime thriller is as personally involving. Includes one of the great car chases (a metaphor for the cops' dogged pursuit of the drug dealers), plus Gene Hackman as Popeye Doyle in one of the greatest performances in film history.
