Review of The French Connection (1971) by Dicaprio L — 06 Aug 2010
The French Connection is action crime drama at its finest. William (The Exorcist) Friedkin provides tight and stylish direction that is further complemented by the superbly nuanced performances of Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider.
The French Connection is filled with intelligence, wit, humor, action, and suspense. It immediately takes hold of you and doesn't let up until well after the credits have rolled. Simultaneously, it is a thought-provoking look at police work and the sometimes proplematic lengths to which detectives will go to catch the bad guys.
A true classic that should not be missed by anyone.
