Review of The French Connection (1971) by Barry N — 17 Jul 2011
The French Connection is one of the grittiest action dramas I've ever seen: if you see it for only one reason, see it for the stunning car chase which has influenced countless films after it. Luckily, there are many reasons to watch it: from Gene Hackman's Oscar-winning performance, the thrilling crime plot, and William Friedkin's (The Exorcist, To Live and Die in LA) uncompromising direction.
It's an essential cop film; don't miss it!
