Review of The French Connection (1971) by Matt M — 08 Feb 2013
The reason why The French Connection is such a quintessential action film is because it genuinely offers the full package, which very rarely happens. Friedkin truly connects to the script by making a film that is as fast paced and exciting, with car chases and shootings, as well as it is compelling and engaging on an emotional level with some character story and backdrops that add depth and realism to the work.
Gene Hackman's performance is career defining.
