Review of The Fox and the Hound (1981) by Gav N — 15 Nov 2009
When I was very young, this was the first Disney movie I had ever seen (As far back as I can remember). It was instantly my favorite movie and still is. It's story is brilliant and touching, despite it's many similarities with Bambi, I think that this movie is MUCH better than Bambi. This movie did what Bambi did and added much, much more. Don't get me wrong, I still love Bambi, but I highly prefer this movie. I've heard a lot of negative things about this movie lately such as: "Too dark for children", "Scary images", "Bad example for young kids", and to the people who make these stupid comments, I say: look at some of the other Disney movies!!! I heard someone say the mother bieng killed is too much for kids. Think of this: Lion king, the Dad is murdered. Bambi, the mother is killed. Land Before Time, the mother is also killed. Yet no one seems to have a problem with any of these movies!! It happens all the time! I just want to know why so many people dislike this particular movie!! It's a great movie that still makes me cry every time I watch it. Moving on to the movie itself: great plot, very touching moments, very, VERY sad moments, and a great moral of the power of friendship. I would highly reccommend this movie if you're looking for a great clasic flick.
