Review of The Fox and the Hound (1981) by Éric I — 29 May 2011
An unfortunate waste of a potential basic storyline, the film fails in portraying a believable connection between the title characters, forcing us instead to understand that their friendship is everlasting.
This is followed by lengthy scenes of unfounded melodrama; the situations challenging the characters' friendship are as weak as the ties uniting them. The film does succeed in portraying a short, yet moving relationship between Tod and the Widow Tweed, and their 'goodbye' scene is one of those that one never forgets.
