Review of The Fountain (2006) by Adonis D — 06 Oct 2012
Not a movie for people who are unable to think much deeper than the water in their sink, this film requires an above average ability to consider braoder and less contemporary questions. A stylistic masterpiece, The Fountain asks questions about love, life, and death, and asks them in a manner no other film ever has or may ever again, and it does so with a consistent and magnificently executed atmosphere and superb acting.
It's emotional and dramatic mettle alone is enough to give it status amongst other great films. To say that is all it has would be a gross underestimation and a surrender to those who are unable to grasp the full breadth of the film.
