Review of The Fountain (2006) by Kaywen A — 29 Feb 2012
Beautiful and stunning. I don't think I've ever seen a movie that's had quite the same impact as this one: a dark, beautifully realized vision of desperation and love carried out over a millennium. The emotion hits like a wrecking ball, the visual symbolism adds layers upon layers of meaning, the direction was brilliant and the use of visual effects over CGI, most apparent in the 'future' parts, added an extra layer of authenticity to the movie's visual appeal.
To summarize, made me want to cry several times, and succeeded by the end. Not for everyone, but absolutely magical if you have patience and a heart.
