Review of The Fountain (2006) by Ezra M — 28 May 2012
Aronofsky visits a theme that is common but rarely pulled off, we saw it in Tarkovsky's Solaris, and that is Loss. Ultimately, The Fountain is a story about man's inability to move on, a man who feels so lost traveling through the deepest realms of his mind desperately searching for some sort of inner peace.
It's a hauntingly beautiful film that's far from perfect, but bold nonetheless. Hugh Jackman is truly a great actor.
