Review of The Fountain (2006) by Drew B — 22 Jan 2013
Underwhelmed.
The triple parralelism had a tendency to confuse a lot of people, and its easy to see why. Very convoluted plot mixed with an inexorable amount of CGI has a tendency to do that.
So.
Personally, the major theme I got out of this is "religion = bad" and yes I realize that we all see subjects in pieces like this that are close to us personally, so I understand where it came from. However, so many different people can see so many different themes that a super-theme is created: chaos, confusion, juxtaposition, etc. As a thesis on chaos, this was meh. I just wanted more out of it.
