Review of The Fountain (2006) by Joshua S — 21 Jul 2013
The second best movie I have seen in my life. Aronofsky blends cinematography and score so seamlessly that it caused me to realize how much of an art form cinema and film making really is. The first time I saw this movie, it sparked my love for cinema which has steadily evolved into a deep passion. The only other movie that has affected me in such a way is the more recent Cloud Atlas.
For being done on such a small budget, the visual effects in this film are nothing short of miraculous. The visual aesthetic combines with the score so seamlessly that one can't help but be enchanted by it. But this film isn't just a treat for the eyes and ears. The plot delicately molds the deep and complicated relationship between the two main characters that is easy to grasp by the audience. It the plot moves in a way that is quite enigmatic and fun to figure out.
