Review of The Fountain (2006) by Andres B — 14 Mar 2014
I always admire someone with this great an ambition, and there are moments during this film that are pure gold. The moments which actually make me think about life and the afterlife. About what it means to live forever. However, it did get caught up in it's own beauty at times, and it distracted me from the story and the themes of the film. It made me think of it as a film, as a separate, detached reality, which is the opposite of what a film maker should strive for when making a film of such depth.
It has to be said though, this is hugh Jackman's very best performance.
