Review of The Fountain (2006) by Sriram C — 28 Mar 2014
Darren Aronofsly is one of my favourite directors, and he doesn't disappoint this time either. The movie had me visually transfixed. Although not as gripping or emotionally hard-hitting like his "Requiem for a Dream", I loved the imagery and metaphors built into the movie so we could interpret the story and the meaning of life in ways we wanted to.
Ultimately this movie is about the tragic human condition - that for all our supposed mastery over our environment, we're impermanent and immaterial to the universe.
