Review of The Fortune Cookie (1966) by Jamey H — 11 Jan 2010
Not one of Wilder's best but overall a good film. Matthau shines in it (and deservedly won the Oscar) and will probably go down as one of the most underappreciated actors of the 20th century. Walter Matthau can make you hang on every line just by the sheer brilliance of his annunciation of the english language.
Jack Lemmon was no slouch in this movie either (with the exception of him making a poor attempt at playing the role of a CBS cameraman), but this was clearly Matthau's film.
