Review of The Fortune Cookie (1966) by Matthew J — 01 Feb 2011
" Fortune cookie" aka "Meet Whiplash Willie" by Billy wilder is a neatly realised comedy with excellent performances. Jack Lemmon excelled in his usual role as an innocent guy who is forced to play along with fraud. But it was the performance by Walter Matthau playing something close to a negative character that was the high point of the film. He was so good that it justified naming the film based on his characters name.I think "Meet Whiplash Willie" was a more apt title for this one.
My rating -4.25/5.
Looking forward to watching more movies with this crew:).
