Review of The Forest (2016) by Pam R — 24 Jan 2016
The movie plot seemed captivating at first. I'd learned about the suicide forest before and was fairly interested. But I feel like the movie ruined my interest with its irrelevant features. I understand this movie is a horror, but what makes up a good horror movie is the pull that makes you even more curious into the movie as the mystery goes on, not the amount of jump scares there are.
There were just too many jump scares into the movie that had no reason to be there. There's honestly no reason as to why a dead body should just wake up and scream at you. At least in the average zombie movie, the dead wake up to eat living flesh, but in this movie, all that basically happens is the dead bodies wake up in her dreams to scream and grab her, the body literally has no goal except to look ugly enough to be scary.
Also, the ending is terrible. (Spoiler) If the main character is just going to die in the end, why stress out her devotion so much only to kill her off not even in a heroic way.
