Review of The Forbidden Kingdom (2008) by Robert I — 17 Jan 2013
The story is about a guy named Jason who is obsessed with martial arts. One day, he is taken to a fantasy world where he meets a supposed immortal played by Jackie Chan who is also a pawn shop owner in his real world tells him that they need to resurrect the Monkey King played by Jet Li.
Along the way, they meet up with a girl named Golden Sparrow and the Silent Monk also played by Jet Li to stop the Jade Warlord and his White-Haired Witch from destroying the statue before they resurrect the Monkey King and he destroys the Jade Warlord.
The first film ever to star our two martial arts legends both Jackie Chan and Jet Li is amazing, the writing is superb and the fight scenes were simply flawless and didn't get too worn out and tiring and this film thankfully got positive reviews due to great writing by John Fusco but there is one slight problem though and it's pretty much the same problem everyone else has: It's exactly like The Karate Kid meets The Wizard Of Oz; it's exactly note for note like those two films and there's a bit of The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor in there; I'm not lying because nearly everyone has said this and even I have seen this with my own eyes.
I will say that's a nitpick but because of that, I may have to reduce the marks a little. Overall The Forbidden Kingdom gets a 9.5/10.
