Review of The Forbidden Kingdom (2008) by Andrew W — 23 Nov 2009
I did not know what this movie was about when I went to watch it. I was hoping for some reminiscing of the old kung fu flicks but maybe I was asking for too much. still, with Jackie Chan and Jet Li on the tin I had to see this and hope for the best.
A lot of people won't be happy with this mainly because of the two actors involved and what potential a movie could have with them two in it. I sort of agree but at the same time I can't deny the fun I had watching this movie. The fight scene, highly anticipated by everyone surely, was brilliant although I still prefer the old style fighting editing in classic Kung fu flicks.
Lets face it, those days might be long gone but the two actors can still do some amazing stunts and kung fu and was a pleasure to watch them. I was really hooked up with the Monkey King character and really would love a spin off or something some day.
The cinematography was amazing, makes you want to put your back pack on and start travelling towards the east (from London).
I might be wrong but was Jackie Chan paying tribute to Sam the Seed with his character? either way in my own head he did.
