Review of The Fog of War (2003) by Isaac C — 05 May 2009
The paper I wrote on this... oy. I've actually found that it's easier to sympathize with Bob Mac when I'm just reading about him than when he's in front of a camera, defending himself so fiercely, blaming his inferiors and superiors and everyone but himself! It's an interesting documentary, but I think McNamara hurt his reputation more by saying just inflammatory things again. He's enigmatic, that's for sure. You can see his regret... but he won't admit to it.
It's hard for me to even write a review of this movie, because I can't disentangle the movie from the man.
I do sympathize with McNamara. This movie allows that. A must-see.
