Review of The Fog (2005) by The Critic ( — 28 Mar 2013
A supernatural chiller that benefits from likeable leads Tom Welling and Maggie Grace, with a solid Selma Blair and cute Cole Heppell in supporting roles as a single mother and young son.
It's beautifully photographed (with wonderful use of silhouettes), the special effects are excellently done and the scares are top-notch, but this remake of John Carpenter's 1980 thriller suffers from all the padding that goes on in-between; the plot isn't anything special, the dialogue lacks much interest and the two-dimensional characters aren't given much to do except scream and run.
