Review of The Fog (2005) by Mitchell B — 30 Jul 2014
In this modern retelling of the original eighties horror film, townsfolk are terrorised by a mysterious force in the fog which surrounds an entire island and begins picking people off one by one. Now I never saw the original so I have nothing to compare it to - but it's half-way entertaining.
There's nothing surprising in the film and there's very few actual scares throughout it; it's mostly a story of scorned lepers coming back for revenge against the descendents of those who wronged them, albeit in ghostly form.
While some of the sequences involving the fog were interesting for the time, the characters are wooden and give you very little reason to root for them - which in the end makes the film less effective than it should be.
