Review of The Flying Scotsman (2006) by Brogan W — 17 Mar 2008
I liked the simplicity of this movie. It's a bipoic about Graham Obree, a Scottish Cyclist who set out to build a bike to break the world 1hr cycling record. He famously used a washing machine and revelutionised the riding position.
Obree suffers from severe depression, something brought on by a traumatic childhood. The film won't win any prizes for pace, action and dramatic CGI sequences but all the better in my book. Its time more simple story telling like this was done.
Above all its true, and that in the end underpins the intrigue in this film, the 'real' struggle. I liked it, and would watch it again and again. It has nothing offensive, no bang for your 'buck' and sometimes, thats no bad thing.
