Review of The Flowers of War (2011) by Collin R — 15 Jan 2012
One of my favorite movies of the year. Metaphor and irony are as abundant as the art onscreen. Nearly every frame is stunning even if it is horrific. Although the film makes idealistic caricatures of it's cast, whether good, evil or naive, it does so deliberately from the point of view of its narrator, a young teen.
This movie is not for the squeamish or overly sensitive... But is in my humble opinion it is brilliant cinema.
