Review of The Flowers of War (2011) by Bryan D — 26 Dec 2012
A story of a man who assumes the identity of a Priest to protect the virtue of young school girls from becoming spoils of war. We have seen dramatic foil played out like this one before. But where "The Flowers of War" really sets itself apart from other similar themed films is the delicate contradiction between the raw brutality of war, and the innocence of childhood.
Some events depicted in this film are brutal and downright depressing. But on the flip side of that, there is beauty to be found in the courage of one man trying to preserve what little beauty reamins of humanity in the ugliness of war.
