Review of The Flowers of War (2011) by Matthew L — 07 Jan 2013
From the grimmest of material comes a truly uplifting film, Bale gives a solid central performance but is clearly there to help sell the film to a western audience. The true heart of this film is found in the performances of the girls and women who make up the schoolgirls and prostitutes seeking refuge within the churches walls.
Watch this for the performances and some wonderful visuals from Yimou.
