Review of The Flowers of War (2011) by Luciano D — 17 Jul 2012
Cut it in half and you might have a decent film.
Take for instance the episode with the pipa strings. It is isolated, patently self-serving and its obvious purpose is just to make explicit what is only hinted at the end of the film.
At the risk of repeating myself: chop it down!
