Review of The Florida Project (2017) by Amir D — 15 Jan 2018
The first hour and a half of 'The Florida Project' is a near-perfect film. Overarching conflict is minimal, and it feels like a study for characters that might not usually be studied. Reminded me of some of Richard Linklater's earlier work.
But then there's an entire thirty minutes after that near-perfect film, that becomes very slow and tiring, and feels forced. I fully understand why it gets slower and darker and all that jazz, but I just didn't really need or want to see that here.
