Review of The Florida Project (2017) by Jon C — 24 Feb 2018
The storytelling isn't exactly streamlined but the newcomers are solid.
The child actors are at times insufferable but they do act their age growing up in an underprivileged environment in Florida, mainly Brooklyn Prince.
This single mother does all she can to get by and provide for her daughter in a motel but nothing comes easy, it is very relatable especially in today's world.
Trying to pay the rent, get food or get along with the tenants is a chore in itself.
The most recognizable is Willem Dafoe as the manager trying to keep everything in order.
It's a unique look at early childhood, it doesn't have to be perfect just present.
Director Sean Baker tells a very realistic story about parents, children, and making it through.
Being a child is a short time so it's best to have fun while the moment presents itself.
