Review of The Florida Project (2017) by Brendan N — 07 Jan 2018
At first this did not appear to be a film I would be interested in seeing but the critical acclaim has a way of shifting my focus. Baker makes a very serious story here that more compelling with true characters that never betray the core elements of the film.
Dafoe is the building block that sustains the younger cast, he strengthens the film where another actor could have become hostile or unlikable. If you think indie cinema is on the way out, guess again.
This is incredible filmmaking that will keep those mindless Hollywood blockbusters in one corner. I'm glad I watched this film and hope Baker makes another film within the next year or 2. He is a remarkable talent with a clever eye for real story and characters.
