Great old-school animation and story. A little nerdy in parts, but fun, while not all lighthearted.
It's deeper than the cover art leads you to believe; it went over my head when I was a child, and it took me forever to find it again because I couldn't remember enough details, but when I saw it again this year, I really liked it. I'd say it's one of those kids movies that's still good when you're older.
The thing that kills me is that WB has yet to figure out that so many people want a DVD version of this, and it's really hard to find to rent, too.
Currently favorite Rankin/Bass production; it has the best music of all their films, in my opinion. And James Earl Jones is great as the evil wizard. I'd watch it again even now.
