Review of The Flash (2023) by Jamess — 17 Jun 2023
As tied in to the Snyderverse as it is, linking to Man Of Steel eventually, The Flash remembers that superhero movies can be fun. The movie begins and ends with a joke, and is filled with the best "twinning" of actors I can recall.
Hailey Mills, Lindsey Lohan, Jeremy Irons, even Nicolas Cage pale in comparison to Ezra Miller's time-crossing duo, where, at times I forgot the same actor was stitched together in scenes and just enjoyed the performances.
Andy Mushietti of the "It" films and the underrated Mama, proves to be a wonderful director for this material, as he handles the action scenes with efficiency and style, as well as scenes dealing with loss and emotion.
Of course tying it all together is Miller. If they don't work, the movie doesn't work. Keaton's grizzled Wayne/Batman is the cherry on top. It may have come in late following all the multiverse themed movies and TV shows (Loki), but The Flash is a fun time.
