Review of The Flash (2023) by Moviemitch96 — 19 Jun 2023
Barry Allen/Flash (Ezra Miller) finds himself weaving through the past and time itself as he tries to undo his mother's death. He soon however finds that altering time and the past has its consequences.
Having just caught an early access preview for this one, I didn't expect much going into it. This is mostly due to the fact that I'm just so burnt out on DC and superhero films in general, especially with the multiverse concept.
And while there are some fun and decent moments to be had here, none of it really adds up to being anything too worthwhile. While it was great to see Michael Keaton return after over 30 years as Batman, and even seeing Supergirl (Sasha Calle) make an appearance, the film's story and timelines are all a literal mess and so not worth the headache trying to follow all the plot points and action.
Furthermore, the slow-motion scenes throughout are cheesy and ridiculous at best. Overall, while it boasts an all-star roster for sure (besides Keaton, Batfleck, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and a whole host of other cameos and Easter Eggs towards the end make things somewhat interesting), it's simply not enough to overcome the typical loud and lackluster story and action I've come to expect from DC.
