Review of The Five Obstructions (2003) by Van V — 24 Jan 2008
One of the best, most intelligent movies I've ever seen. I've seen this more than five times already. Movie tells many stories at the same time. While we see Leth's black and white short in part, we see that Leth directs again his old script against Trier's obstructive production.
And finally whole remake process becomes Trier's movie. According to Trier, Leth asks questions only, and he is out of everything, he keeps his hands clean, sterilized, he talks from a distance and never answers the questions.
Trier ably finds all the disturbing questions and force Leth to answer them.
