Review of The Fisher King (1991) by Adam Z — 30 Sep 2008
Gilliam fans will disagree with me here, but I prefer this movie to "Brazil". It just seems as though Gilliam loves his characters a little more this time around. Robin Williams gives one of his best, if not his best, performances ever.
Has an unusually sentimental ending for a Gilliam movie, but perhaps that's how he really feels about the story. Like "Brazil", it could have done without Gilliam's usual gross-out gags, but everything else is balanced.
Michael Jeter's crossdressing scene is a must-see.
