Review of The Fisher King (1991) by Faye L — 11 Apr 2010
Probably Terry Gilliams most normal film, and not one of his best films but it does have a lot of heart and is very well acted. On search of the Holy Grail for the second time in Gilliam's film history, this is a long way from his Monty Python days, and although this is meant to be a comedy there are not many laughs.
I like the film but it is a little dull, and I was not a fan of seeing Robin William's private bits. Jeff and Robin play off each other very well and the relationship is a fine piece of work, the problem is that this film did not inspire me, it left me flat.
I love Gilliam films and I think he is one of a kind, not many directors have the guts to make what they really feel they should be making, Gilliam can't be put in a box and sometimes he makes bad films.
Fisher King is a middle of the road film, if your a fan of Gilliam you must see this, but to be really honest give it a miss.
