Review of The Fisher King (1991) by Steven C — 15 Feb 2012
Jeff Bridges plays Jack Lucas, a Howard Stern-like radio DJ whose careless "advice" results in a deranged listener committing a shooting spree. Despondent over the ramifications of his deed, Lucas is about to end it all until he forges an unlikely friendship with Perry (Robin Williams), a man who lost his mind after his wife was killed in a shooting spree committed by the deranged listener of a talk radio show.
The Fisher King focuses on how these two men, scarred by the same tragedy, bond and ultimately redeem each other throughout the course of the narrative. It's a beautiful story that is enhanced by priceless acting from the cast and poetic direction from Terry Gilliam.
