Review of The Fisher King (1991) by Timothy M — 09 Oct 2010
Might be my favorite Terry Gilliam film, even though he didn't write it. There's still Gilliam's trademark fantastical elements woven in, but it's much more reality based, focusing on love, redemption, tragedy and homelessness.
This also features some of Bridges' best work, which I think is better than his Oscar role, and he plays quite well off of Williams and Ruehl, who both got award recognition instead. The only minor pratfall is the feel-good ending, a huge rarity for Gilliam, and how it feels rushed for whatever reason.
