Review of The Firm (1993) by Patryk C — 25 Jul 2012
Based on John Grisham's bestseller, The Firm is a thrilling and intelligent suspense movie that attracts with its absorbing plot and adequately compelling ambiance. The spellbinding script sets the tone for all the intrigue, paranoia, anxiety and game of cat-and-mouse between the protagonist and his evil employers with deadly mafia connections.
Because of its length the movie is able to show all the important aspects and motives from the exhilarating book, while omitting those not exactly necessary for the final appeal. Young Tom Cruise is perfectly proper in his role, but Jeanne Tripplehorn doesn't remind me of the beautiful and alluring wife from the novel. The movie is really well-directed, and comes as one of the finest adaptations of a Grisham story up to date.
