Review of The Final Conflict (1981) by Callum R — 09 Jan 2010
Omen3: Substantially better than its predecessor but the cracks are showing in acting and focus. Instantaneous plot? 4.5/10.
Well Sam Neil pre-Jurassic Park in a second horror sequel, though it must be said that the series is far more respected than others. What I liked about The Omen films is this continuation of plot without rehashing the same sequences over and over again. Omen 3 further exploits the original prophecy by having Damien coming ever closer to ultimate power. Apart from a few lazy, brash and downright classless scenes (the satanic meeting springs to mind) and the odd bit of cliche there is much fun to be have, and if you've been glued to the plot like I have since the original there is no reason why you wouldn't enjoy sucking on the same lemon a bit longer. This film was a decider that needed no successor thought the ill-advised made-for-tv franchise aspirer of four in the early 90's wanted to prove otherwise. Sure the film is silly, lacks any depth or style and is about as incoherent as Britney Spears dance routines but I'm going to let that slide. After all Omen 2 was downright abysmal in places...
Rated (18): Contains Strong 80's Haircuts from the start which some children may find disturbing.
Final Score:45/100.
