This film grows on you like a lumpy wart. The fact its based on a true story helps you power through the first 20mins (when you're thinking 'should I stay or should I go?'). The family-domestic theme continues all through the film and you start to care About the characters.
Christian Bale is simply amazing as the junky brother with terminal narcissism. Think he won an Oscar. Mark Wahlberg is as wooden as ever but they have good chemistry as the lead brothers. The ending its a little under whelming but satisfactory.
Worth a watch, although maybe not as big a film as the hype suggests...?
