Review of The Fighter (2010) by Yash B — 23 Jun 2015
David O. Russell's "The Fighter" is a spectacular sports drama full of stellar performances. Everyone brings their "A game" here and it really escalates the film. While the movie is about boxing, it is also about so much more.
It has a dysfunctional family drama side that is actually quite engaging to watch. Christian Bale definitely stole the show in this movie and it really can be unsettling to see how dedicated this actor is to his roles looking at how much weight he lost.
This movie is a tad predictable but since the performances are so strong, the movie holds its own in the world of sports movies. Out of the three O. Russell movies I've seen, this one stands as my favorite and I fully recommend it.
