Review of The Fighter (2010) by Jordan B — 20 May 2016
Christian Bale's energy pushes and pulls every scene he's in. Mark Whalberg has the body for this movie but not the acting. His character seemed disinterested in everything which is more like Mark fading into the character than vice versa. Amy does a great job and has a passionate role. The mother is a phenomenal trainwreck. The sisters are a beautiful set of nasty crows. The dad has a moment or two.
They did the story justice.
There's an awkward scene where they're "owning the town" that doesn't pull off what they're going for. Very forced this scene was, as Yoda would put it.
