Review of The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967) by Thomas D — 27 Sep 2005

If you don't know Polanski, here's the gist: he's a creepy guy. Couldn't attend the Oscars and get his Best Director award for The Pianist because he's a fugitive from America because he raped a 13-year-old girl. If you didn't know that, you're out of the loop.

His movies, at least the 3 I've seen, are pretty good though. Chinatown, his "masterpiece", is my personal favorite; The Pianist is a little drawn out towards the end but is overall a good picture; and The Fearless Vampire Killers is an entertaining horror-comedy in the same vein as Young Frankenstein. So that's that.

The underlying motive behind this practice was not only to keep track of movies that might disappear from the list as ratings change and are added, but also to find the Godard picture (Band of Outsiders, whose French? name, Bande a Part, was ripped off by Quentin Tarantino for his filmmaking group, A Band Apart) that inexplicably dropped about 20 million spots on my list.
