Review of The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967) by Patryk C — 26 Jul 2012
Lighthearted take on the deadly vampires and their bloodthirsty desires. Polanski's crafty hand makes this horror seem intriguing, and his role onscreen makes it truly comedic. While vampires are still elegant and scary, they don't seem as ruthless in this chaotic spoof of an epic nightmarish tale.
A vintage Polanski worth a closer look. I laughed, and not at the helplessness of the main characters, but at the witty situational jokes that are there. While the character's struggle to survive might seem fulfilled in the final scene, the inevitability of what happens shows that Polanski knows his subject matter.
