Fast 8 still retains the ridiculous fun and absurdity that the series is known for at this point. But despite some excellent set pieces, this doesn't quite have the same charm that's made the past few so good.

And a major reason for that is the absence of Paul Walker. The interactions between the cast members doesn't feel the same without him and it did hurt my enjoyment of the film as a whole. Despite some standout moments between Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, it feels like a mostly recycled film that is beginning to run out of ideas.
