Review of The Family Stone (2005) by Tanja D — 05 Dec 2008
This movie is amazing and superbly cast. All the actors are multi-faceted particularly Dianne Keaton who plays her role remarkably well. It is so real, all the emotions are tangible and despite some of the crazy happenings, this movie still makes it all plausible. Sarah Jessica Parker is amazing (even if you hate her in SITC give this a go) and Luke Wilson and Rachel McAdams are also brilliant.
This movie conveys the difficulty that can arise when trying to enter a family and make a good impression when the bonds among family members are extremely strong, but mainly this movie is about the meaning of love and family and how they work together through the peaks and troughs while respecting and embracing one another's individuality.
2 scenes that stood out to me (AKA Major tear jerkers!).
1)Meredith (SJP) gave the family their presents at Christmas.
2)Diane Keaton (mum) and Dermot Mulroney (son) have a d&m.
This is a movie that will touch your heart and soul - have some tissues handy :).
