Review of The Family Stone (2005) by Lukechristiansc — 26 Nov 2015
With cliche's and little character development, but it has a competent screenplay also it's heartwarming and has a big heart, there's nothing wrong with that unless it's well made, also it does bore you a couple times.
The performances were appreciable, but the actors do a fine job and make it work, also a few chuckles. Just wished Tom Bezucha's screenplay had a little more substance. Everett Stone (Dermot Mulroney) brings his uptight girlfriend Meredith (Sarah Jessica Parker) home for the holidays to meet his family for the first time.
Meredith and The Stones get off with a rocky start, making the family miserable. So she invites her sister Julie (Claire Danes) for back up. Bezucha makes it work and gives us something we need for the holidays.
