Review of The Fall (2006) by Nata?A L — 20 Feb 2011
Visually sumptuous film that also has some very strong acting from the two leads. Its about a young (and super precious) Romanian girl who has been laid up in a hospital in LA after she suffers a broken arm while picking fruit with her family in the fields. She befriends a stunt man who has also suffered broken bones as well as a broken spirit after a stunt gone wrong on a film set. He tells her a story that we see through her vivid imagination while he battles through a physical and mental breakdown.
Definitely deserved some form of attention due to its wonderful direction and camerawork. Not to mention one of the more precocious and convincing naturalistic child performances I've ever seen.
The ending old movie stunt montage set to Beethoven music gave me chills as well.
